CYBRA Celebrates its 40th Anniversary
If you haven’t heard, CYBRA is celebrating over 40 years of innovation — and we’ve been having a blast getting to this point!
From pioneering barcode and RFID software before it was cool, to helping Fortune 500s and small businesses alike track, print, and automate everything under the sun, CYBRA has always been at the forefront of supply chain technology.
And the best part? We’re just getting started. From new partnerships and cutting-edge RFID deployments to powerful updates to our MarkMagic and Edgefinity IoT platforms, there’s no shortage of exciting projects on the horizon.
As we look back on the past 40 years of success, we are also looking forward to what’s around the corner. The next chapter of CYBRA’s story is all about building smarter, faster, and more connected solutions — and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
CYBRA’s History
Since 1985, CYBRA has been solving the most vexing auto-ID challenges in the world.
Starting as a program reseller, then moving to software development in 1990, CYBRA has become a major player in barcoding and RFID technology.
CYBRA is Founded
CYBRA Corporation was founded as a New York corporation in 1985 by Harold Brand, an IT professional with extensive experience in computer systems design, and Dr. Shlomo Kalish, an authority in marketing for start-up ventures.
CYBRA Becomes IBM Business Partner
CYBRA enters into a partnership with IBM in order to resell Israeli software products for IBM Midrange Systems.
MarkMagic Version 1.0 Released
CYBRA identified a market need for barcode label software, and developed a new proprietary software product known as MarkMagic.
CYBRA Lands First OEM Partner
Computer Associates, now known as CA Technologies and a subsidiary of Broadcom, becomes the first software company to offer CYBRA's software within their own system. in 1998, CYBRA adds Manhattan Associates and Vormittag Associates Inc. to integrate MarkMagic within their software products
EdgeMagic 1.0 Released
CYBRA enters the RFID software industry with the release of its first passive RFID system - EdgeMagic. In 2017, CYBRA releases its first active RFID system, Edgefinity IoT, in order to provide solutions for asset tracking and personnel safety monitoring.
CYBRA Relocates
CYBRA moves its headquarters to the Yonkers, NY waterfront. Subsequently, sales and customer support personnel moved to West Seneca, New York.
CYBRA Integrates with More Products
In an effort to extend its ability to reach more customers, CYBRA adds Shopify, Flourish, Acumatica, and NetSuite as partners.
Celebrating Our Past
CYBRA was founded in 1985 in the basement of our founder, Harold Brand, in the Bronx, NY. The company has grown exponentially since then, but those humble beginnings established the core values that still define CYBRA today: hard work, honesty, a good sense of humor, and an unwavering dedication to outstanding customer support.
In October, the CYBRA teams from West Seneca and Yonkers, NY, met halfway in Binghamton to celebrate this milestone. The busy two-day event featured team-building activities, engaging tech seminars, and, of course, a few nostalgic walks down memory lane — honoring past teammates, shared achievements, and unforgettable stories.
Looking Forward to the Future
We’ve seen the tech world change more times than we can count — and we’ve changed right along with it. Through every new standard, system, and sunrise initiative, we’ve adapted, innovated, and thrived.
