Data Retention

What is Data Retention?

Data retention refers to the ability of a microchip or RFID tag to maintain the information it was originally encoded with. RFID tags and microchips can retain encoded data for 10 to 30 years. Most RFID tags and microchips can hold about 2 kilobytes of data or more. However, a tag or chip’s data retention is dependent on environmental factors such as temperature, tag usage, and storage location.
