Field Name as *HEADING indicates to MarkMagic that the information typed in the Description of the field is the relevant static information.  Anywhere you see *HEADING being mentioned in MarkMagic or JMaigc means you are dealing with static information in some fashion.  For example, in the screenshot above of a Text field, we see the Field Name as *HEADING and the Description is FROM:.  This is a simple static text field that will print the wording FROM: on your label or form:

Unless acted on by a PrintTransformer Condition in some fashion, this *HEADING text field will always print the word FROM: in that position with the font and sizing defined while Creating the Text Field.

The Field Name of *HEADING is not reserved just for simple Text fields.  Barcodes, Graphics and even Data fields can be *HEADING as well.  For example, a *HEADING Graphic field is the most simple way to add a static company logo to your format.  Once a graphic has been uploaded and converted via Work With Graphics, it can be placed on to your format with the Field Name as *HEADING.

Unless acted on by a PrintTransformer Condition in some fashion, this *HEADING graphic field will always print in that position with the assigned graphic number.  Please see Create a Graphic Field for more information.
